What’s on TV
NANCY DREW 9 p.m. on the CW. Sex, darkness and a dash of the supernatural are added to the Nancy Drew formula here, in a series that reimagines that classic young sleuth for a contemporary audience. The hourlong drama raises Drew’s age to 18, and it relocates the action to Maine. The show also gives Drew (played by Kennedy McMann) a tough back story: In this show, she has a strained relationship with her father, and her mother has recently died. There are also ghosts, an element that factors into the show’s first major case, which involves the murder of a socialite. “At the core is the idea of a young woman who believes in righting wrongs and finding the truth,” Stephanie Savage, a creator of the series, said in a recent interview with The New York Times.
FAMILY TIME 9 p.m. on Bounce TV. Six seasons have gone by since this sitcom introduced Anthony Stallworth (Omar Gooding) and Lisa Calloway-Stallworth (Angell Conwell), a married couple who started off the series by winning the lottery and relocating to the suburbs. The seventh season sees the couple transitioning into empty nesters. That lifestyle should support more quips among their fellow adults, like Cheryl (Shanti Lowry), whom, in Wednesday’s season premiere episode, explains a new home “security system” to Lisa. “Basically, it’s just a recording of a couple arguing,” she says. “That way it always sounds like there’s someone bickering at home.”
GOLIATH Stream on Amazon. Amy Brenneman, Illeana Douglas, Griffin Dunne, Beau Bridges and Dennis Quaid are among the celebrity guests in the third season of this legal drama, which stars Billy Bob Thornton as a lawyer with a troubled past. This season centers on a parched California vineyard, where a death is apparently the indirect product of corporate greed.
ANTHROPOID (2016) Stream on Hulu; rent on Amazon, Google Play, iTunes, Vudu and YouTube. The actor Cillian Murphy is back in the spotlight right now as a 20th century gangster in the new season of “Peaky Blinders” on Netflix. On Hulu, find him hunting the infamous Nazi Reinhard Heydrich in this World War II thriller. Directed by Sean Ellis, the film is an account of the true Czech-British mission to assassinate Heydrich, the main architect of the Final Solution. Murphy and Jamie Dornan play Jozef Gabcik and Jan Kubis, soldiers who parachuted into enemy territory to hunt Heydrich. It takes the movie “a while to build steam,” Andy Webster wrote in his review for The Times. “But once it does, hang on.”
LIVING UNDOCUMENTED Stream on Netflix. This six-episode docuseries follows undocumented immigrants from eight families in America as they navigate the immigration system, endure bias and seek asylum. The subjects have come from a wide range of places — Mexico, Honduras, Colombia, Laos, Israel and Mauritania — and their differing experiences and challenges reflect the range of realities that families face when trying to make a new life in the United States.
